Jeff MacSwan is a Professor of Applied Linguistics and Language Education in the Division of Language, Literacy, and Social Inquiry in TLPL and in the Program in Neuroscience and Cognitive Science at the University of Maryland. He is an affiliate Professor in the Linguistics Department and the Center for the Advanced Study of Language (CASL). MacSwan’s applied research program is focused on the role of language in theories of school achievement and on education policy related to English Language Learners in U.S. schools. His basic scientific research program focuses on the linguistic study of bilingualism and codeswitching.
