Maryland Neuroimaging Center
The hub for cognitive neuroscience research at the University of Maryland.
Opened in 2011, the Maryland Neuroimaging Center houses a state-of-the-art Siemens Trio 3T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner, funded in part by a major research instrumentation award from the National Science Foundation. The center also houses a magnetoencephalography (MEG) lab and is the future site of the High Density Electroencephalogram Lab, an EEG facility. The center has been designed to foster collaboration among neuroscientists, psychologists, cognitive scientists, engineers and physicists. A special focus of the center is on understanding mechanisms of brain development and neural plasticity in typical and atypical populations and in developing techniques for multi-modal neuroimaging studies that combine insights from multiple brain recording technologies. The Department of Linguistics has played a leading role in the establishment and operation of MNC.
