Wednesday October 29, the Psycho-Neuro Meeting has Audrey Laun presenting the results of her MEG study comparing neural effects of repetition priming across perception and action tasks (word reading vs. picture naming). Brief description below.


There is wide debate regarding how the broad linguistic tasks of production and comprehension are carried out on the neural level. The aim of the current study is to evaluate repetition suppression across word-reading and picture-naming as a way to explore how the spatiotemporal dynamics and predictive mechanisms of comprehension and production overlap or differ. Our experiment contained two experimental blocks, within which participants listened to a single-word auditory prime and then either overtly named a picture or covertly read a single word. Using MEG, we compare evoked responses across the two experimental blocks to assess the spatial loci, magnitude, and timing of repetition effects.
