Alexis Wellwood promoted to Full Professor

Big congratulations to alum Alexis Wellwood *14, who has been promoted to the rank of Professor in the School of Philosophy at the University of Southern California, where she also holds appointments in the Departments of Linguistics and Psychology!

Alexis arrived at Maryland from Concordia as a Baggett Fellow, supervised by Valentine Hacquard. She then earned her PhD in 2014, still advised by Valentine. In addition, as Alexis puts it on her website, "Paul PietroskiAlexander WilliamsJeffrey Lidz, and Colin Phillips were unofficial mentors." Her dissertation, Measuring Predicates, was on the semantic lessons of comparatives. After graduating, she was first appointed as Assistant Professor of Linguistics at Northwestern, before moving to USC in 2017.
