This NSF program "recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines who are pursuing research-based Master's and doctoral degrees." Caitlin and Chris, 2 of 16,500 applicants for the prestigious fellowship, are among its only 2000 winners, across all scientific disciplines.
