Maša to Georgetown

April 30, 2025 Linguistics

Six people, standing in a line, posing for a formal portrait: it's a dissertation student, having just successfully defended her dissertation, flanked by her examining committee.

Postdoctoral associate in syntax.

Congratulations to Maša Bešlin, who this fall  begins a postdoctoral position in syntax at the Georgetown Department of Linguistics! Maša recently filed her dissertation, "Lexical category, (re)categorization, and locality in morphosyntax," having defended it in December to a committee, chaired by Maria Polinsky, including Norbert Hornstein, Dave Embick, Alexander Williams and, representing the Dean, Michael Israel.

The Seal of Georgetown University reads "Ad Ripas Potomaci in Marylandia," and we are happy to still have Maša just down the road in what was once Maryland.
