Now out from
Maria Polinsky,
Heritage Languages and their Speakers, published by
Cambridge University Press. The book is an introduction to heritage languages and their speakers, covering phonetics and phonology, morphology and morphosyntax, semantics and pragmatics, typology, sociolinguistics, language acquisition and psycholinguistics, featuring data from a wide array of languages. It puts a special emphasis on recurrent structural properties that occur across multiple heritage languages, and is clear about where we presently lack the data to adjudicate important analytical or theoretical claims.
