Big congratulations to Philip, who is one of only six researchers chosen as an MPower Professor by the strategic partnership between the state universities at College Park and Baltimore known as MPowering the State, "a collaboration between the state of Maryland’s two most powerful public research engines [...] to strengthen and serve the state of Maryland and its citizens." Each of the six professors will receive a three-year grant to apply to their salary or to support supplemental research activities. Philip's work focuses on "computational modeling of language that brings together linguistic knowledge, domain expertise, and machine learning methods [and currently] emphasizes applications in computational social science and scientific research questions in computational cognitive neuroscience."
