Special issue of the Journal of Child Language.

Now out, a keynote article by Valentine Hacquard in a special issue of the Journal of Child Language, "Being pragmatic about syntactic bootstrapping", together with four invited commentaries in response from Toby Mintz, Kristen Syrett, Laura Wagner, and a group in Paris anchored by Anne Christophe. Surveying a decade of work and its context, Valentine's paper "examine[s] how pragmatic and syntactic cues can combine in mutually constraining ways to help learners infer [the] meanings [of attitude verbs], but need to be supplemented by semantic information from the lexical context in the case of [inferring the meanings of] modals."
